Default Re: How Part-Time Work (Moonlighting) Can Save You Money

Good point about the benefits of PT work. I have a part time job where I work five hours a week, doing the same thing I do at my dayjob. Because the PT gig is union, though, I make fifty percent more. Since I have health insurance thru my other job, my PT employer reimburses me for my premiums (about $50/month). Also, in January I will have been there two years, and they'll begin matching 5 percent in my 403b account.

The catch? It's not very family friendly. Difficult to get time off to care for my son if he's sick, and it was very hard to get support for using my breast pump at work, even though I started there when my son was only six weeks old.
