I don't know if it stops the credit card companies, but I will tell you what I do. I take the return envelope that the credit card application is supposed to go in and in big letters write
All you do by sending me these applications is waste your money. I will send this note back in every application you send me!
since the return envelopes are prepaid by the credit card company, they have to pay the return postage. Maybe if everyone would do this instead of just throwing the junk mail in the trash, the credit card companies would stop sending out so much mail as it wouldn't be cost effective. At the very least, it gives me a little satisfaction
