I'll be 50 this year and I still remember! Elton John's Follow the Yellow Brick Road double album. I can probably still sing along every word of every song (if I hear the music and Elton starts singing, not off the top of my head!).
My parents were both teachers and didn't make much money. That is probably the only time in my childhood I got something I really, really wanted and it was a total surprise. It was leaned up against the wall at the bottom of the stairs the morning of my birthday (December 22).
