Save those tomato scraps!
Hi,
this is a great way to save money. Hubby has sliced tomatoes in his sandwiches for work every day and I used to throw out the cores and end slices, which we hate. One day I realised what a lot of cash I was throwing in the bin. I now save them, plus the cores from tinned tomatoes until I have enough to fill a large pot. I let them simmer fro 20-30 minutes and then sieve them. The result is lovely thick juice which can be used for soups, stews, curries etc... I haven't tried it, but maybe in a bloody Mary too?
