Cut my own hair. $20 clippers with guards and I save $12 every 3-4 weeks. Granted it's not as good as a barber, but pretty darn close.
As for the garage door, Dallas summers can get into the upper 90s and sometimes 100s. In the summer I leave the garage door cracked enough to let some heat out, but not enough to let somebody get in. Maybe the comments above about closing the door were referenced for winter. 17 degrees? I don't envy you!
