I am employed full-time as a contract attorney at a small firm. on the side I do bankruptcy and immigration cases (20% of the fee goes back to the referring attorney). I get referrals from the firm I work at and several others (I just called around told people what I was going to do and they send referrals to me). I also ebay---have a storage unit full of momentos that dad and grandma kept, because a lot of it is unique, regional ano/or vintage, it does pretty well. I do used books on half.com and amazon.com as well.

DH does commissioned artwork and tattoo designs for people. He set up a website and also networks through myspace.
