This is so true! Nothing really prepares you for the "real world". You just have to go out and live it to figure it out. Posts like this help take away some of the shock!

This post is what I've been learning since I left school, 10 years ago. Even university didn't prepare me for the workforce. I find myself struggling to enjoy working and getting quite depressed, wondering how I could be so bad at it, when I was so good at school. It's quite a shock and one which I hope to better prepare my own children for. I wish schools took more responsibility for educating people on what they'll need to know for the rest of their lives. I would love to be a part of changing this problem, rather than just whingeing about it and doing nothing.

One of the things I remember (in addition to the above mentioned) was being used to a lot of holiday time and suddenly being expected to work for months with no holiday was very hard.

Every word in this post, and the puncuation, is the truth.

I have to say, the only thing I learned in college is I learned how to learn.

Everything else, including how to take care of myself financially and spiritually, came from experience.

Wonderful post.

I agree with you.
There's just so much that one is not ready for until we are faced with a reality that is called "real life".

We have to learnt o deal with problems with no one to run to.
If you survive, you can become very successfull.
If you fail, it could mean a downward spiral in everyday living.

I think we are always learning something new, each day that does by is just another day of learning.
