I agree. For years my husband and I would always get take out on Friday because we deserved it. But for years because of our goal to retire early we conserve. We do go out but not nearly as often. Also we have disovered that we cook better than lots of the fast food places.

I work from home and I still see Friday as a day on which I'm entitled to "goof off" a bit.

My husband and I decided to just budget a Friday night "date" in. When we made it part of our budget, we controlled it better. Of course, we had to balance that by cutting back elsewhere...

Right on...and then comes Saturday, which also pricey because you are free, free of your workday routine. So is Friday or Saturday the priciest?

I think that the advertisers also play a role in getting us to spend money. They might advertise a special fight with so and so on - Friday or Saturday night. They know that you're more likely to be at home and could have friends over for any occasion.

The restaurant says it all. TGIF. Thank God it's Friday. Sometimes when it comes to parties, you might just have to excuse yourself and give a gift to the party without going to the restauant. This is only if it's someone that you don't want to celebrate.

Also, weekend airfare specials are tempting as well.

I, like the others never thought it completely through about the Friday spending, but you are right on.

I never really thought about it, but you're absolutely right. Friday's are getting a little expensive in these parts.

I'm going to rearrange the budget a little.

Great post! Until we actually write the numbers down and look at them, it's easy to just go along with what we've always done. We can't change a bad habit if we're just doing it on auto-pilot.

At the office, everyone has the idea that we deserve our Friday treats and that sense of entitlement is contagious.Try a reward that doesn't throw off the budget. It's not THAT hard.
