This is my peak season- we mainly pick up stuff from dumpsters & curbside that college students throw out. Our "winning season" of trash picking was 2 years ago when we completely filled our garage with multiple kitchen sets, dishes, furniture, rugs, dressers, etc. We sacrificed our garage for the summer- then threw the be-all, end-all garage sale the first weekend the students were back in town. We made $2000 for our efforts!! I am a seasonal dumpster diver. This is my peak season- we mainly pick up stuff from dumpsters & curbside that college students throw out.

I used to dumpster dive a bit where I used to live and then I moved to a new city. I assumed that dumpster diving would be okay in the new location, but was in for a big surprise when the cops told me that it was illegal. I got off okay, but it's not a situation that you want to be in. Just check before you try this. You need to be very careful and make sure that dumpster diving is legal in your area.
