Money Photo Day 9

pomegranates

When I go to the grocery store, I am pretty good at sticking to a list since I found it has saved me a lot of money compared to not shopping with a list. It takes something truly special to get me to purchase something not on my list these days and I found that something today.

When I was growing up our neighbor had a pomegranate tree. There was a single branch that hung over the fence and into our yard where we would pick the pomegranates when they became ripe (we’d also steal them from the other side when they ran out on our side…). I can remember spending hours picking the fruit out of the pomegranate one at a time and then returning home to be scolded by my mother for getting pomegranate juice all over my clothes – then I would go and do the same thing the next day. So when I saw pomegranates for sale today (I have never seen them in Japan), I had to get some. I’m eating it right now as I write and it’s damn good :)

I guess it’s these types of memories that get adults to purchase and collect the toys from their childhood, but that’s a whole other post…
