Grocery Stores For Gas Savings

gas - ways to save moneyConcept: If you purchase a certain amount of food from a grocery store, you receive a coupon for for a specific amount off per gallon of gas at an affiliated gas station in the area.

Will You Save Money?: Yes**

Comments: This is a good promotion for grocery stores to bring in more people and more grocery stores are popping up with gas stations as part of the grocery store. It can also be a money saver for you since discounts on gas can be as high as 10 cents a gallon. You do have to be careful, however, because there are traps where you may think you’re saving money when in reality you are losing it.

** If you purchase more at the grocery store than you would normally to reach the minimum amount you must buy to receive the gas discount, then you will likely spend more than you save.

** You still need to compare competing prices in the area, especially if the grocery store offering this is farther than other grocery stores in you area. If you get 10 cents off each gallon, but the price of gas is 10 cents more than other gas stations in your area, the deal really isn’t the deal it seems.

** You need to make sure that the grocery store doesn’t have prices higher than other grocery stores in your area. If you are saving on gas, but at the same time paying more for your groceries, you aren’t saving money overall.
