I-Bonds Purchase Update

The purchase of the $1000 I-Bonds (for my niece)went through without a hitch and now it’s a matter of waiting to see if I made the correct decision in purchasing them in October rather than November. Either way, it will be a good investment for the money for the time being as I look for more antiques in which invest. I’m curious to see what happens with the announcement come November 1, but I guess I have to hold my breath with the rest of the people wondering the same thing.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the whole process of getting these bonds. Both the sign-up and purchase were extremely easy and a much more pleasant experience that I had anticipated. I would certainly recommend signing up for anyone who was considering investing in these as it has been one of the least painful experiences I’ve had with online banking/investing.

I opened an account with Treasury Direct, and all but submitted an order for an I-Bond, and I can second what you say above. It was easier than setting up accounts with Emigrant and ING.

So why didn’t I complete the purchase, if it was so easy? I’m debating using the money for something else. I’m still thinking about it.
