It seems that the hardest thing to learn in life is that right now is the best time to accomplish anything. It is just to easy to put things off until tomorrow but the problem is tomorrow never seems to come, it only turns into today. I have realized the hard way over the years this lesson. Especially that right now is the best time to start interest compounding in your favor, as well as end interest compounding against you.

What if the fix-it guy is your hubby and HE procrastinates? I refuse to nag him, but sometimes he puts things off too long.

People always think they will have a tomorrow. Funny thing, tomorrow comes but not like you expected. One of the best deals I ever got was signing up for $20/month short term disablity. When I got sick it paid out around $10,000 to me. I would have been up a creek if I had put that off. Many other things kept us from sinking completely financially when disability hit and that was being frugal before I 'needed' to be.

With the ability to check your balances on line, there is no excuse for not keeping track of your checking account. I just was on the phone to the bank because of a 35 cent service charge that they charged me that they shouldn't have. Those little things add up if you don't watch them. I balance my account weekly with on line help. It catches mistakes when they are still little enough to fix without consequences.

You got it! Since we drive old cars forever, people often comment that we must be excellent at maintenance and upkeep. The funny thing is we never do any "Scheduled" maintenance, but for oil changes. & even those we do less often than generally recommended (due to the advice of our very trusted mechanic). The only thing we really do is we do not procrastinate on repairs. I can vouch that it has saved us thousands in the long run.

The same principle really applies to anything, as your post illustrates.
