Yes, you are absolutely right. I was looking for good summer camps for my two daughters and with only one steady income is hard. Specially down here in Miami. Anyway in one of your trips to the North Miami Public Library I gave a glance to their calendar. What a live saver. They offer almost daily workshop from June-August. Not only our girls meet new friends but also learned new skills. They offered poetry, arts, science, quilting just to mention some of them. My oldest who is 7 now is emerge in her writing and my youngest started to pick the books she want to read. As for me I even learn a couple of thing about myself. Like I am good at drawing that I never tried before this workshop. Also our library offer Story time on Wednesday nights. They run all kinds of contest to encourage everyone to write. They also offer a lot of adult programs such as a book club, yoga, computer for beginners. As you can see our library is a wonderful gateway for learning and I am very grateful for having the opportunity of using the library resources. The North Miami Library is our second home and is where I know my girls are on a safe environment. The staff is so wonderful, caring and always helpful. Most libraries offer FREE, 24/7 AT-HOME access to money-saving publications like Consumer Reports, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s National Business and Financial Weekly, and many other top business magazines and professional and trade journals.

All you need is a library card and your home computer with Internet service. Of course you can always come in to the library and use these on the library’s computers as well.

Holdings vary from library to library, but they usually include lots of things like online encyclopedias that the kids can use along with the online magazines and newspapers to finish up those last-minute assignments — also free, 24-7, and at-home.

They’re also a great source for online health information.

Check it out; you’ll be amazed.

And don’t forget that at some library systems, you can reserve items on-line and you will get an Email notice when they are ready to be picked up!
