investing in domain namesI mentioned earlier that Yahoo Publisher Network ads were performing so poorly on our grocery coupon guide site that it only took a week to realize we needed to switch back to Google Adsense. That was definitely a smart move because earnings immediately shot up.

The other site we decided to experiment with, frugal gardening, ended up pleasantly surprising us. Although the click-through rate was lower than it has been with Google Adsense, the earnings from YPN ended up about doubling from what the site had earned the month before. For that reason we have decided to stick with YPN on that site and are considering some other sites to also experiment with.

The finding thus far is that YPN doesn’t produce the number of click-throughs that Adsense does, but if you have a site with a low pay-out rate using Adsense, YPN might be a better choice. It’s certainly worth experimenting with and that is what we are planning to do.
