It always amazes me how people are all for you making sacrifices, but exempt themselves.

Its easy to be "IN" support of something but not so easy to act out that support. How many people are actually prepared to make sacrifices in their lifestyle to cut down on global warming. Not many because it's inconvenient.

I have seen someone complaining about oil and global warming get into an suv but not a hummer. That takes the cake for irony. I think certain types of people would rather complain and appear concerned than actually do anything about it that would take up their time or hinder their lifestyle.

This actually isn't that crazy if you consider competition for scarce resources.

Demand increases, and alternatives are sought. Those alternatives will probably result in smaller greenhouse gases.

Economies of scale and subsidies makes the alternatives cheaper than gasoline.

So increases in demand and decreases in supply push us towards alternatives faster than purely environmental concerns.

I never understood why there is such a strong correlation between environmentalists and those predicting an oil shock in the near future. It's a problem presenting its own solution.

whenever I see ppl driving (almost always aggressively) in one of these monstrosities, I can't help but give a nod to Stephen Colbert (on the Colbert Report): there should be a huge bumper sticker on the back that says, "fueled by oil. . . and the blood of patriots" or maybe even "we support terrorists." Essentially, ppl who want the added "security" of driving around in one of these vehicles are destroying the environment, supporting the worst elements of the global marketplace (both terrorist cells and despostic governments rely heavily on our addiction to their oil), and are ensuring that we'll always have brave men and women dying over in some godforsaken country because it's in the "national interest" that Americans have access to cheap oil. It's the epitome of selfish, vapid, arrogant egocentrism. . . . I don't mind flamboyant displays of wealth, unless they're blatant blights on the environment, the globe's future, and so on. . . People are so arrogant and ignorant that it makes me want to weep, sometimes. . . .
