fat or poor - which would you rather be?According to a new survey from Fitness Magazine, you’re likely to choose being poor over being fat. The survey says that the majority of women (63%) and men (55%) would choose to be poor at their ideal weight rather than be rich and substantially overweight. More than half of both women (58%) and men (54%) also say they’d prefer to be without a job rather than have 75 extra pounds of weight to carry around.

When it came to fat and smarts, however, there was a large reversal. Even though over half were willing to trade money for fat, three out of four men and four out of five of women indicated that they would be unwilling to trade 20 intelligence-quotient points for the perfect body.

Which would you choose? Rich and 75 pounds overwight or poor with a nice body?

Rich and 75 pounds overweight, of course! Then I could pay for a personal trainer and/or liposuction.

  • chris says:

Heck, I’m *already* 75 lbs overweight! Now show me the money!!

  • Jonathan says:

Hmm… I could always pay $1,000 a month for a personal trainer to come by every day and yell at me to exercise. So I guess I could choose being poor instead of being fat…

  • Cap says:

you know for some reason I think I want the nice body. making money seems easier than working out. heh.

  • I’d rather be poor. I’m already poor(ish) and I have an unreasonable fear of fat people. I think it goes back to when I used to wrestle in middle school and my fat coach would sit on me. Or maybe it had more to do with the whale we used to rent a room to. (Whale isn’t a very accurate term, though; she looked more like a tick. A 450 pound body with a 2.5 pound head…)
